It's been a while, here's something to discuss.
Terry Shciavo. I'm sure most of you have heard of her, but in case you haven't here it is. Terry had a heart attack in february of 1990 and though she was saved by quick medical action, she had lost supply of oxygen to her brain for long enough that she suffered permanant brain damage and slipped into a coma. Over the next four years she was given agressive treatment and therapy but showed no signs of responding to any of it. She has now been in a persistent vegitative state with no chance of improvement for 15 years.
Her husband, Michael, has been fighting to have her taken off of life support so that she can finally be released from her current state. Her parents, on the other hand, have been fighting to keep her on life support as they hang on to the possibility that she could get better with ongoing therapy.
Should someone who has little to no cognitave function be kept alive as long as possible, or should they be allowed to escape their condition through death?
Are we allowed to argue about religion in here? Or is that too offensive to some people? Katie? I'll understand if you say no.
uhhh, abortion is bad. no, its good. nonono... holy what? I don't even know where anyone left off. Soooo... continue!!!
